This Labor Day weekend, we hopped in the car and headed to Plymouth, Indiana. A few days before, I had stumbled across an article in the National Geographic Travel blog, and it sounded worth exploring. The official festival website also seemed to offer a weekend full of promise- a blueberry stomp, a "little person" tractor pull, various blueberry treats, hot air balloons, and fireworks. I think the best way to sum it all up, would be a nice pro/con list.
| PROS | CONS |
| landed the last room at America's Best Value Inn | Value?! $80 per night includes: an empty pool, bathroom door that won't shut, a tv that doesn't maintain a constant volume, a shower faucet that was installed backwards, so I keep waiting for hot water that never arrives...and to top it all off, the biplanes roaring by in the morning alert us to the fact that the airfield is right next door |
| seeing a business called "things of distinction" | someone named their business "things of distinction" |
| the grocery store is open 24 hours | what kind of @#()$#* state doesn't sell alcohol on sunday? |
| blueberry pancakes, blueberry ice, blueberry carmel corn, blueberry muffin deluxe | not enough creative uses of the blueberry |
| anticipating the little person tractor pull | were you thinking midgets? i was. is that bad? turns out it was just a bunch of kids on pedaled tractors. weak. |
| very cool balloon glow | being trapped in a crowd of whiny kids, angry parents, and inane conversations |
| fireworks! | sitting 100 yards away from ginormous explosions made me poop myself a little |
| it was a fun weekend roadtrip | it was in Indiana |
As always, photos on Flickr.
End Transmission.
